Juice used to be called “iPodder” and it was one of the first podcatchers ever. However its name had to be changed for legal reasons because iPodder was too similar to iPod, the mp3 player by Apple.
Juice was developed by Adam Curry, sometimes know as the “podfather” for his work in the early days of podcasting development. He developed Juice which is a good piece of podcasting software.
Juice does its job fine and there are no problems. However unlike iTunes, Juice will only catch your podcasts not play them. When you click to play them, your default media player (such as Windows Media Player or Real Player) will open and play the podcast .
This puts Juice at a disadvantage to iTunes, which will catch your podcast, play it and allow to to listen to music or buy tracks all within the same program.
So Juice is a great podcatcher, working on both Mac and Windows, but it just doesn’t give you the flexibility of iTunes.
